Thistle Sports offer the only professional racquet restringing service in Aberdeen using the best of equipment and the widest choice of strings for all racquet sports.
We are recognised as an official Wilson Service Centre and our highly trained staff work closely with manufacturers to ensure that our high stringing standards are maintained.
We have previously strung for many top players including Andy Murray; the British number 1 and current Olympic men's singles champion, and Greg Rusedski.
We also offer a regripping service in store, simply choose a grip from our large selection and we'll fit it, there and then, while you wait.
Frequently asked questions
Q: Do I need to pre-book my racquet(s) in?
A: No. Just turn up in store and we'll book them in. Your racquets will then be placed in our stringing queue.
Q: How long will it take to get my racquet(s) back?
A: We understand that it can be frustrating when your preferred racquet is out of action. Which is why we endevour to get it back to you within 24-48 hours. This may increase during peak times, when strings are unavailable and when extra work is needed.
Q: I have an older racquet, is it worth getting it re-strung?
A: Let us have a look at it. We'll give you an honest and unbiased assessment.
Q: My racquet needs a new grommet strip, can you replace it?
A: Yes. As most racquet's have different grommet strips, we don't stock them in store. But subject to availability, we can order in the specific strip for your racquet. Please allow an extra 24-48 hours on top of our general lead time. Please ask in store for more information.
Q: I'm looking for a specific string, can you order it in for me?
A: Yes. We work with most of the main string distributors. Please allow an extra 24-48 hours on top of our general lead time. Please ask in store for more information.
Q: Can I provide my own string?
A: Yes - as long as we're happy to work with the string you have provided.
You will be charged a flat labour fee.
Q: I work for a school/club, can you repair our set of racquets?
A: Yes. We are happy to repair bulk sets of racquets. We'll assess each racquet individually and repair the ones that aren't damaged. Please ask in store for more information.
Q: Do you string in-house?
A: Yes. We string in-house, 6 days a week in our Rose Street store. Your racquet(s) NEVER leave the premises when we are in posession of them.
Q: Are your stringers UKRSA qualified?
A: No. The UKRSA (UK Stringers Association) is one of many commercial associations that provide stringing training throughout the country. It is NOT the main stringing governing body in the UK. We prefer to work with manufacturers (such as Wilson and Head) directly to maintain the high standards of our stringing.
Q: What machine do you work with?
A: Wilson Baiardo. The Baiardo is the official stringing machine of Wilson’s international stringing team (made up of many of the best stringers in the world), which strings for many tour events, including the US Open.

Please note: Racquets are left at owners own risk. Due to the sometimes unpredictable nature of racquet frames, Thistle Sports cannot be held responsible for damage to racquets during the restringing process. Except in the very unlikely event that staff are directly at fault.
